Fargo Script Analysis

Scene Descriptions

The Film misses the sections of the lobby, hotel room and the restaurant.

there is a distinguishing shot to show the bar and the people inside the bar playing pool.

The script is very accurate in the directions that it gives.#

Dialogue

Jerry
Calm, composed, honest, serious
I think Jerry is possibly the antagonist because he wants his wife kidnapped.

Carl
Impatient, aggressive
I can’t tell what type of character Carl is because he seems aggressive, yet only doing what he is doing because he has to.

Grimsrud
Patient, clever
Grimsrud seems to be an antagonist because of his aggressive nature.

Kar is the protagonist from Bulletproof Monk and helps the monk to keep the sacred scrolls from an evil ex-nazi who wants to use them to take over the world. In this movie, Kar is flawed because he is a pickpocket who is falling in love. He is brought into the film by chance when he runs into the monk who is carrying the scroll whilst trying to evade the police.

Frank Martin is a character from the Transporter and Transporter 2. He is the protagonist in the film, but thinks killing people is o.k. He will take anything anywhere, and follows his own three rules. No names, No questions and do NOT look in the package. This is his flaw because he was transporting a package that was shaking in his boot, opens it up and it's a woman. This is how he is bought into the film.

The character of Jigsaw in the Saw movies is a compelx one. He is the antagonist, but he thinks he is doing good. He wants to make people appreciate life because they are waisting theirs and he has cancer and is going to die. The only way he can think of to make people learn to appretiate is by putting them in a life or death situation, but the situation normally ends in death for the victims anyway.

A thriller movie is one where a hero has to stop a villain from performing a horrific act. They have many tension building sections throughout the film that take you on twists and unexpected turns.

Thrillers normally take place in areas of extremities, e.g. deserts, extremely cold places, etc. The heroes are generally people used to danger and who think of helping people as their duty.

Thrillers have many sub-topics that mix the entities of the genres as one. These widen the possibilities

Action Thrillers normally have a timed goal.
The Transporter 1 and 2 are good examples of action thrillers. They keep you on the edge of your seat with unexpected explosions and high speed fight sequences.

Horror Thrillers have a battle of brains, emotion or fists.

What Lies Beneath is battle of brains, with the main character trying to find a way to prove. It gives subtle hints as to what’s going on without giving the whole plot away.

Saw 1, 2 and 3 are great examples of both a mental and physical battle. They have the antagonist who uses his brain whilst he makes his victims use their physical abilities. The movie gives you twists and turns as you think the people are going to escape, and when you think the antagonist is going to be caught.
